Three distance problems, one tool: coordinate distance in 2D or 3D, plus great-circle distance between latitude/longitude pairs using the haversine formula (as-the-crow-flies kilometres and miles).
2D/3D coordinates or great-circle lat/lon distance.
Coords: Pythagorean · Lat/lon: haversine with R = 6371 km
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| lat/lon | Degrees: latitude −90…90, longitude −180…180 |
| R | Earth mean radius 6371 km |
New York (40.7128,−74.0060) → London (51.5074,−0.1278) ≈ 5570 km (≈ 3461 miles).
