Epoxy is sold as a two-part kit, and every kit has a coverage at a given thickness. At 1/8 inch, one gallon of mixed epoxy covers about 12 square feet — half that at 1/4 inch. This calculator converts area and thickness to mixed volume, then splits it by the mix ratio.
Epoxy resin and hardener for a coating or pour.
Area = L × W Units = ⌈Area × (1 + waste) ÷ coverage⌉ Cost = Units × price
One gallon kit covers about 12 sq ft at 1/8 inch. Units are rounded up because suppliers sell whole gallon kits, and the waste allowance covers cuts, mistakes and future repairs.
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| L, W | Room length and width (or wall length and height). |
| A | Area to cover, in square feet. |
| w | Waste allowance as a percentage. |
| N | Number of gallon kits to buy, rounded up. |
24 sq ft ÷ 12 sq ft per gallon kit = two gallon kits, with a little spare for edges.

1/8 inch for a countertop pour, 1/16 inch for a sealing coat, and 1/4 inch or more only in multiple pours.
Results use standard construction estimating arithmetic: volumes from measured area and depth, unit weights from published material densities, and code-referenced spans or clearances where the page names a code. Quantities are rounded up to whole saleable units and include the stated waste allowance. These tools are planning aids, not structural design, and do not replace a licensed engineer, a local code check, or a contractor's site measurement.
