Everclear 190 proof -> 100 proof: add 95% water by volume. This calculator tells you exactly how much water to add for any target proof.
Dilute high-proof spirits to target proof.
water (ml) = spirit (ml) * (startingProof - targetProof) / targetProof
For proof-to-ABV: proof / 2 = ABV roughly. The formula assumes ideal mixing and no volume contraction.
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| startingProof | e.g. 190 |
| targetProof | e.g. 100 |
| spiritVol | Volume of starting spirit in ml |
750 ml 190 proof -> 100 proof: 750 * (190 - 100) / 100 = 695 ml water to add. Final volume: 750 + 695 = 1445 ml at 100 proof.

Alcohol volume contracts when diluted — the formula corrects for that. Eyeballing can off by 10%+.
