Resting heart rate is how often your heart beats per minute while you are calm and inactive. This check places your number in a common adult range and describes what that band usually means, but it is general guidance rather than a medical reading.
Check your resting heart rate against common adult ranges.
resting HR = beats counted in 60 seconds at rest
Adult resting heart rate commonly sits between about 60 and 100 beats per minute, and trained people often fall below 60. These bands are general guidance. See a doctor for persistently high or unusually low values, or if you feel unwell.

| resting HR | Your heart rate in beats per minute, measured at rest. |
A resting rate of 64 bpm sits in the typical range for most healthy adults, which usually spans about 60 to 70. A rate of 48 bpm is common in trained endurance athletes, while a rate near 90 is high for a calm adult.
Resting heart rate is the number of times your heart beats per minute when you are fully at rest, best taken just after waking and before you get up. For most adults it falls somewhere in the fifties to the eighties, and a lower rate generally goes with a stronger, more efficient heart that moves more blood with each beat.
A lower resting rate is not automatically better. Genetics set part of it, and trained endurance athletes commonly sit in the forties or lower as a normal adaptation, while a rate persistently well above your own baseline can signal fatigue, illness, dehydration, or stress.
Take your pulse for a full minute, or let a monitor record overnight and use the average, since a single reading can be thrown off by a bad night or an early alarm. Track the trend over days, because the value drifts with sleep, hydration, alcohol, and training load. A sudden jump above your norm is a signal to ease off and check in with how you feel.
