Estimate the calories you burn doing burpees, a demanding full body exercise. Count a set by reps or by total minutes, and the calculator applies the MET value for this vigorous move to your weight.
Estimate burpee calories by reps or by minutes.
kcal = 8 × weight (kg) × time (hours) reps mode: time = reps × 2.5 seconds
The MET of 8 places burpees in the vigorous range. The reps mode assumes about 2.5 seconds per burpee, a steady but sustainable pace.
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| reps | Number of burpees completed (reps mode). |
| minutes | Working time in minutes (minutes mode). |
| weight | Your body mass in kilograms. |
At about 2.5 seconds each, 100 burpees take roughly 4.2 minutes, so a 70 kg person burns about 8 × 70 × 0.069 = 39 kcal. To burn more, keep the pace up for longer.
A burpee chains a squat, a plank, a push up, and a jump into one continuous movement, so it recruits a large share of your muscles in a short time. That whole body demand places it near 8 METs at a vigorous, sustained pace, and the calculator prices the effort with the standard MET equation.
Unlike distance based activities, the burpee has no fixed output to measure, so the key input is time. The estimate reflects how long you kept moving at that intensity rather than how many repetitions you completed.
Repetition speed varies enormously between people. A trained athlete may hold a dozen or more burpees a minute while a beginner rests between each one. Because the MET value assumes near continuous effort, long pauses make the true cost lower than the headline figure.
Counting only the working seconds is the most honest approach. If you do sets with rest between, total the active minutes and enter that, and treat any extra burn from an elevated heart rate during recovery as a small bonus the model does not capture.

Burpees are brief. Even 100 reps take only a few minutes, so the total energy is modest unless you keep going for a long set.
